I know there are so many subscription boxes, it’s hard to know which to choose for your family. I have written about the many benefits of subscription boxes before, why we love them, and which ones we use. Today, I’m sharing all about Happy Hedgehog Post Box. This is a Waldorf-inspired monthly box that is filled with everything you need to complete themed handicrafts. I love how they incorporate the seasons and my kids and I are having so much fun spending quality time together making things.
When we open up our box, it comes with a Zine for the month. Included are instructions for each craft (with photos), a short story and poem. Happy Hedgehog Post includes all of the materials you need to complete each craft and a small gift (such as tea, candles, candy, piece of artwork, etc). The instructions for the crafts are very detailed and easy to understand. Even if you have never attempted a specific project and have no experience with the skills required, you’ll definitely be able to complete your craft! I was new to wet-felting and needle-felting and successfully created amazing fiber art with my daughter on our first try!
Chickie and I had our first go at needle-felting with this pumpkin project pictured above. We took turns layering the wool roving and went to town poking and dragging to secure the wool into the fabric and create dimension in our fiber art. Now we have an heirloom keepsake that will last for generations. I look forward to hanging this up every Autumn to reflect on all of the new things we’ve tried over the years!
We hand-stitched and stuffed these beautiful Autumn trees. They have found a warm home in our entry way and remind us as we pass through our doorway what beauty can come from hard work and time. These trees were a labor of love and taught us all new skills (…ahem…french knots…). I am so happy to display these and will cherish them as part of our seasonal nature table for years to come!
Our little acorn man was the quickest craft and fits in nicely with Chickie’s fairy garden. She had so much fun making him that both of my kids pegged me to order peg dolls for them to create new characters. This craft has sparked such imagination and drive in my children to open their minds to nature-play and getting lost in a tiny world they’ve created.
We created this dragon for Michaelmas back in September. Happy Hedgehog Post included all of the felt and the template. We used their beautiful template to cut our dragon out of red felt and took our time hand-stitching him to the black felt. I love the wooden dowel they included to hang our flag, such a creative idea! He now hangs from our mantle guarding our fireplace! We will be sure to display him each Michaelmas season as we list what dragons we will be slaying!
I cannot recommend this box enough! If you want to be crafty, but don’t know where to start, this is the perfect solution! Not everyone has every material on hand to complete a project. It can be daunting to try something new with no direction. These boxes provide you with everything you need to create something beautiful that will last a lifetime.
